She worked with the LysoSENS team to create a cell model of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) using RNAi-transfected cells to test the effect of a lysosomal enzyme on diseased cells. They conducted tissue culture work with human retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) ARPE-19 cells, and used western blotting and immunofluorescent staining to compare the expression of key proteins in aged and non-aged cells. The author also led presentations on the project progress, drafted research reports, and presented a poster at the SRF “Rejuvenation Biotechnology” conference in Santa Clara, CA. |
